A Brief History of OTELON
Our factory was first established in
1986 under the name Houdige Sheepskin Tannery, operating as a collective enterprise in China.
In
1995, it became privately owned and was renamed Xingda Leather & Fur Factory, marking the start of its independent operations under the leadership of Mr. Chen, who still manages the factory today.
During the earlier years, due to national export quota regulations, we supplied our goods through state-owned trading companies.
By the mid-1990s, we were already producing
both tanned sheepskin and finished sheepskin products, with most of the end goods shipped to
Japan through these trading channels.
In
2015, we officially adopted the name
OTELON, reflecting our expansion into finished sheepskin products and direct international trade. That same year, we obtained full
import and export rights and upgraded our tanning processes to meet
REACH environmental standards.
Our Manufacturing Capabilities
Today, OTELON operates a
9,000 square meter facility, with over
50 pieces of specialized equipment and an annual processing capacity of more than
300,000 sheepskins.
Key milestones in our technical development include:
- 2012–2013: Investment in advanced drying, fleshing, and wet-clipping machines
- 2016: Construction of a wastewater treatment system (1,000 tons/day capacity)
- 2017: Direct sourcing of raw skins from New Zealand and Australia, with farm-level traceability
- 2019–2022: Certifications including SGS, Intertek, and OEKO-TEX Standard 100
- 2025: Passed BSCI social audit, strengthening our compliance profile for European clients
